Strangford Lough and Lecale Big Butterfly Count

Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership are inviting you to join us and help take part in a Big #ButterflyCount at Delamont Country Park.The Big Butterfly Count is a nationwide survey aimed at helping us assess the health of our environment. It was launched in 2010 by Butterfly Conservation and has rapidly become the world's biggest survey of butterflies. Over 60,000 people took part in 2017, submitting 62,500 counts of butterflies and day-flying moths from across the UK.On Saturday 11th August we will be carrying out this survey in Delamont Country Park. Join SLLP staff and Butterfly Conservation volunteer Peter Courtney to learn all about moths and butterflies and take part in the survey.Normal car park charges for Delamont Country Park will apply.To book please contact Numbers will be limited so booking is advisable.This event is aimed at all the family. Everyone can take part! All necessary equipment including butterfly i.d charts will provided.Please note, in poor weather the survey may not happen as bright, sunny weather is a requirement for butterfly surveying!Butterfly Conservation Northern Ireland
