Heritage Emergency Fund launches to help the sector

The National Lottery Heritage Fund has put together a £50million fund to support the heritage sector as an immediate response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The UK-wide fund - money raised by the National Lottery - will address immediate pressures over the next three-six months for those organisations most in need. It will be open for applications within the next few days.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak the Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership office in the Down Civic Centre is now closed until further notice. Staff are now working from home and can be contacted during normal office hours on 07341867211 or 07548159835.

Record habitats on CEDaR Online Recording!

When recording species information on the CEDaR website, it is now possible to record the habitat type. The habitat tab is now available in the Spatial Reference section of the record submission page. Here you will find a drop down list of broadscale habitat types. By selecting one of these, a second list of more detailed habitat descriptions will appear.

By recording habitat type alongside species records it will ultimately help to inform broader scale ecosystem management.

Our red squirrels are under threat from habitat loss, food competition with the non-native invasive grey squirrel which also spreads diseases that further knock back our native reds. You can help by joining people like you who are helping to save our reds by working together in local squirrel groups. These community groups are taking direct action to improve the habitat suitability for reds.
