Wonderful news! The beautiful tall ship Johanna Lucretia that arrived in for our Festival to Cook St Quay in Portaferry is offering sailing trips in the Lough on Friday (tomorrow), Saturday and Sunday.
This is a great opportunity but places are limited to twelve lucky people per sailing, so first come first served. Prices are £15 per adult and £10 per child under 15 years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Life jackets are provided.

World Championships Come to Strangford Lough

Strangford Lough, County Down, Northern Ireland, has been selected as the venue for a major, international coastal rowing event, "Skiffieworlds 2016"; it was announced today, by the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association (SCRA). 800 competitors, some from as far away as the United States and Tasmania, and up to 60 boats, are expected to participate in these World Championships for the St Ayles' Skiff class of coastal rowing boat. The Narrows Challenges 2015

The Narrows Challenges 2015 will take place on the morning of  Saturday the 13th June as part of the Strangford Lough Festival.  
The Elite race at 10am is for each clubs best team, the winning boat will lift the Narrows Challenges trophy as won by Killyleaghs Skart last year. There will be 2 shorter sprint races, the ladies race commences at 11am and the men set of at  11:30am.
 
The coastal rowing races can be viewed from both Portaferry and Strangford Villages. 
 
There will a prize giving along the Shore front in Portaferry.
 

Strangford Boat Scoops Ocean to City Trophy

Strangford's rowing boat, "Strangfjorthr" won a prestigious, perpetual trophy at the Ocean to City, international coastal rowing race in Cork at the weekend for the best finished and most beautiful boat out of the 165 competitors. The 22 foot St Ayles' Skiff was built last year by and for the local community as part of the Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership's coastal rowing initiative and she is the pride of the village. MEDIEVAL MAYHEM AT STRANGFORD LOUGH FESTIVAL

Portaferry will be filled with Medieval Mayhem on Sat 13 and Sun 14 June during the annual Strangford Lough Festival. Those turbulent times were action packed and you can try on chain mail, wield a sword and bring out your inner thirst for battle with the castles' men–at-arms. Falconry and archery displays and have-a-go sessions will be a huge draw at Exploris Park and you can also pick up some ancient recipes or try out your writing skills with the cooks and scriptor monk.
