Kircubbin Heritage Guide

Discover the Wonderful Heritage of Kircubbin with a Free Guided Wildlife Shore Walk on Friday 28th August

As part of the launch of our Kircubbin Heritage Guide the Strangford Lough & Lecale Partnership have organised a guided shore walk with the DOE Strangford Lough Ranger, Jen Firth.  Jen will show you how to make the most of your visits to the shore and help you discover the weird and wonderful animals that hide amongst the rocks and seaweeds.  Kircubbin is a great place for colourful sponges, starfish and crabs and hopefully we’ll see some coastal birds too!

The new guide celebrates the natural and built heritage of the village in addition to exploring the unique wildlife of the Lough.  It also highlights the history of some of Kircubbin’s prominent buildings and tells the story of the people who have lived and worked in the village.

The shore walk will take place at 6.30pm on the 28th August followed by two short talks at 7pm in Maxwell Court on Main Street, where you can pick up a free copy of the Heritage guide.  So come meet the Mayor of Ards & North Down and join us in celebrating the rich heritage of the village and learning about the wealth of natural beauty on your doorstep!

This project is part of the SLLP’s Turn O’ The Tide programme to engage people with their heritage, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

To book a place on the guided shore walk please contact the Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership on 028 4272 8886/ 9005 or email: Arlene.Matthews@strangfordlough.org
