We are delighted to have been awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to provide new training opportunities under the HLF Nature Skills NI programme.

This funding follows on from the success of the Skills for Living Landscapes and Seas Project and supports our ongoing commitment to training, allowing us to open up the opportunity for a career in the nature conservation sector to a wider range of people.

There is a skills gap in our sector and this project has enabled Ulster Wildlife to develop a comprehensive training programme to ensure more skilled people will be available to work in the natural heritage sector. This programme focuses on the passion and enthusiasm of individuals who are committed to learning the skills and experience to pursue a career in conservation.

This scheme is open to non-graduates under the age of 24, people from an ethnic minority background or people who consider themselves to have a disability.

We will be offering seven traineeships, each year, over the next three years with both part-time and full-time places available.

Trainees will receive -• comprehensive training programme including a range of practical natural heritage skills• support from a dedicated mentor• industry recognised accreditation when you complete• a training bursary of £12,500 for the full-time positions, £7,500 for the part-time positions over the 52-week programme

And...a year well spent and experience that will allow you to forge a career in the natural heritage sector.

Application deadline is 12noon on Wednesday 24 January 2018.
