Loch Cuain Canoe Club Carry Out Clean-ups With a Difference!

22 Loch Cuain Canoe club members and SLLP Coastal Guardian project volunteers, have been carrying out litter clean-ups with a difference this September. Travelling along the Quoile river and around some of the islands in Strangford Lough, the canoeists have collected litter as they go, helping to conserve and protect our waterways and island habitats. It is important to note that certain areas of the lough are highly sensitive during breeding season and the club has liaised with all relevant authorities/landowners to ensure no disturbance to breeding seals or nesting birds.

Members of the club also assisted in the SLLP extreme clean of Ardglass harbour in 2018, by ferrying litter across the harbour in their canoes. A great way to see the Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty and look after it at the same time! Well done all!
