Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership

The Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership brings together the main stakeholders involved with the management of Strangford Lough to consider the strategic management of the environmental protected area and to provide related advice to government from a local perspective. 

The Partnership Advisory Committee comprises of twenty one organisations. It provides a forum for discussion between the main interest groups and helps the Lough users understand the wider issues involved in caring for this tremendous resource and in using it sustainability. 

The Partnership Advisory Committee meets six times per year and at any time it may have a number of active Working Groups. 
 
While the Partnership Advisory Committee has no operational responsibilities on Strangford Lough it has initiated a number of strategic initiatives to improve the area's management including;

  • Information panels
  • Out and About booklets 
  • Reference Guides 
  • Aids to navigation to the main mooring areas
  • Turn O' The Tide public engagement programme
The Office secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund for a four year programme which commenced in 2008 to provide opportunities for local people to engage with their heritage you can find out more on the Turn O' The Tide section.
