Turn O'The Tide - Young Sea Dogs

Turn O'The Tide - Young Sea Dogs
The Young Sea Dogs project aimed to provide an opportunity for young people who have not previously tried a water sport to ‘have a go’ with local water sports clubs and encourage their participation, and the participation of local youth organisations in water sports on Strangford Lough.

Working with one local youth group from Killyleagh and Comber, Turn o’the Tide Project Officer, Stephanie Baine, had the opportunity to work with a group of 25 young people over a week with a series of workshops. Using shore walks, seaweed, and on the lough recreation we delivered a better understanding of the heritage of Strangford Lough.

In Kircubbin, Turn o'the Tide worked with two groups of 15 young adults from the NRG centre. The project combined the good fun of “having a go” with a message of good practice, sustainability and the concept of long-term guardianship of the Lough.
