The National Trust and SLLP have joined forces to create a new volunteer run second hand bookshop in Portaferry. The shop is located at No. 1 The Square adjacent to the SLLP office and is staffed by a group of six very keen local volunteers. In addition to selling books, the shop also provides information on the local natural and built heritage. It is hope that it will provide a more visible presence for both The National Trust and the Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership in Portaferry. To date the shop has raised over £500; the plan is for this money to be spent on projects in the local Portaferry area. So if you are looking for a good read, stop in and support the Portaferry locals. The shop is open weekdays from 1pm to 4:30pm and Saturdays 10am to 2pm.
