There is a very long tradition of wildfowling on Strangford Lough and it is a well regulated activity. At present about 250 National Trust authorised permit holders may shoot on areas of foreshore in accordance with the code of practice. The five wildfowling clubs around the Lough, (all affiliated to the British Association for Shooting and Conservation), co‑ordinate activities through the Joint Council of Strangford Lough Wildfowling Associations in a covenanted partnership with the National Trust, for further information check out the Ards Activity Guide 2010/2011and the Down Newry and Mourne Visitor Guide.
