Cycling

The gentle, undulating terrain of Strangford Lough, the mild weather and stunning views
make the area attractive to cyclists.

Sustrans Strangford Lough Cycle Trail 
A 100 mile circular route around Strangford Lough with onward links to Newcastle and beyond. It is designed to be used in sections by residents and to attract leisure cyclists and visitors to the County Down area. The long distance on road signed route will feature traffic free sections in Newtownards, Downpatrick and Comber.  

Since 2007 Sustrans have developed an additional 120 miles of signed cycling routes in County Down including, a 7 mile traffic free walking and cycling path that follows the former railway line from Comber to the heart of East Belfast.
